I have stayed in this delightful little apartment four years in a row for a month or two each time. Each time I return I marvel at how perfect it is, with its location right in the historic centre and its terraces with views of the surrounding hills and of many of Guanajuato’s landmarks including Pipila ,The Buffa, and many of the colonial churches. In the evening, the night view of the city and all of its lights under a starry sky will take your breath away! The apartment itself has all that you will need – a comfortable sitting area and a small but fully equipped kitchen, a very comfortable bed and a modern bathroom with shower. You are within walking distance to the Teatro Principal, Teatro Juaraz, Museo Iconigrafica, a generous selection of restaurants, the city market and El Jardin, Guanajuato’s central tree-lined plaza which is surrounded by restaurants and never disappoints as a source of entertainment! Gerardo, Claudia and Paulo are always there to provide assistance should you need it Be prepared for the sounds of the city and of Mexico but also if you are lucky you will be serenaded from below by the Estudiantinas as they make their way through the callejons of the historic centre singing ballads and telling stories and jokes. It is an experience you will not forget!

We first contacted Casa Solaris to help us find a new rental property. Gerardo was our first point of contact. He quickly showed us a selection of properties from which he was able to identify exactly the right fit of property for us. From our original intention of renting a property, Gerardo found us our dream home which we decided to purchase. Throughout the whole process Gerardo guided us, through the details of purchasing here in Mexico, finding a notary and even in the division of the property. Keeping us informed at each stage of the process. Once the purchase was complete Gerardo continued to help us, with our poor spanish he helped us find various tradesmen, assisted with paying for property tax and changing the names on the utilities. It is 3 years now since we took the plunge to live permanently here in Mexico. Our home is still a dream come true, and we consider Gerardo a very good friend.

After sailing the Pacific Coast of Mexico for 2 years, we took a vacation from the summer heat on the coast and came to Guanajuato. We never left. Through pure serendipity we met Gerardo Araujo while helping a friend look for a home. We were the ones who ended up buying! Gerardo was incredible. He and his sister, Claudia speak excellent English (as well as other languages) and it is fair to say they’ve changed our lives. He found the perfect property for us and was at our side for the entire purchasing process, including setting up bank accounts, dealing with utilities, connecting us with contractors, translating for us with government agencies, and on and on. That was almost 2 years ago, and he is still there for us as we continue to immerse ourselves in Mexico. His ethics are impeccable. Gerardo is the only licensed real estate agent here, and knows this town and the surrounding area like the back of his hand, after living here 30 years. We’ve worked with agents in the US before, but never experienced this level of service. Vanessa and I recommend him and Solaris Realty without reservation for any housing need, rental or purchase.
